The society shares its premises with the Three Counties Area Group of MERG (Model Electronic Railway Group). The members of this group are drawn from across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and they share a common interest in the use of technology to control model railway layouts.
The group is often asked to represent MERG at exhibitions within the Three Counties area and they have produced a simple two tier layout that showcases the electronic control modules that are produced by MERG.
Normally, the electronic modules would be hidden underneath the layout baseboard, but in this case the modules are on top so that their function can be explained. The locos, points and signals are all controlled via a small computer.
